Reese Witherspoon began seriously pursuing her acting career after first attending Stanford University. She had early successes with movies like Pleasantville, Election and Legally Blonde. However, it was her role as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde's box office smash that set the stage for her acting career. Witherspoon was awarded the Academy Award in the year 2005 for Walk the Line. Alongside her acting work, she's also an accomplished painter and exhibits her work at several galleries.
