Aaliyah Daniel Haughton made her way into fame in 1994 when she released her album debut Age Ain't Nothing but a Numer. The singer was barely fifteen when her debut album was released as Gold. The album was part of a group that was greatly in the style of R. Kelly and it brought her into the limelight. In 1996, Jermaine and Timbaland came out with Aaliyah's sophomore album One In A Million. It contained If Your Girls Only Knew, the single that was most popular. Aaliyah was recognized internationally as a R&B artist following their release of the sophomore album One In A Million. Aaliyah starred alongside the legendary Jet-Li, the famous martial artist in Romeo Must Die (2000) the action and romance film. Joel Silver, a film producer who was at an award show in which she was cast was able to spot her. In 2002, she appeared as involved in the Anne Rice-produced thriller Queen of the Damned. The Matrix Sequels followed, with Zee as her character. She received four nominations at the Grammy Awards in 1999, 2001 and 2002. Her birthplace was in Connecticut to a family of Indian origin. Mann the stage name is an acronym for Mankad her surname when she married. Aarti Magnumdar, her professional name. She also uses Aarti Magumdar for her stage name. Though her first career was dominated by minor television and film parts, she gained recognition in the latter half of 2000s. Other notable work includes Grey's Anatomy, Suits and Leverage. She's appeared in many commercials for Volvo's international automobile producer. She continues her acting career in Los Angeles, where she lives with her daughter and husband.
